March 14, 2011 "Great to be BACK in the Glades!"

Once again, we had a wonderful morning in the Everglades with a great bunch of people. The weather was fantastic and it was great seeing all the gators in their natural habitat in the Glades.

The water level continues to drop in this dry part of the year so we are all anticipating the rainy seasons arrival. I am hopeful that we begin to see some rain soon to sustain the level of water necessary to continue our airboat ride as normal.

Of course we saw gators, birds and raccoons today as well as lots of blue sky, however, seeing the smiles on the faces of these folks as they came around the corner on the airboat after their ride was priceless!

Thank you all for joining me and I hope it was an experience that you will remember for awhile. If you think this journey was a good choice for your time here in Southwest Florida, please log onto "Trip Advisor" (see link on the side of this blog) and share some thoughts so others may use your input to decide how they would like to spend time and while here on their vacation!

Gator D is ready for bed so he can get some beauty rest before tomorrows adventure! Goodnight all! Later ALLIGATOR!

March 3, 2011 "Swamp Buggy Safari!"

Today was a wonderful day with my new friends Jeff and Alison from Canada! We went on a full day adventure today on a swamp buggy and it was filled with the fantastic wonders of the Everglades including alligators, birds, plants, turtles, big cypress swamps and on and on!

The ride took four hours (plus a little extra because Chris the driver was in no hurry!) but the day passed very quickly. The weather was perfect although a little breezy but that was a welcomed thing out in the heat of the day. It was mother natures "air conditioner" and boy did it ever work.

The highlight of the trip was a short walked from the main trail into a Cypress Swamp where we found a ton of wonderful air plants to include the "Pinapple Orchid" and a nice 7 foot gator relaxing in the water. It was certainly a picture perfect example of the Everglades and what a wonderful sight it was.
Thank you all for the great day! Thanks Chris for making the ride enjoyable and educational and thank you Jeff and Alison for being great fun!

Enjoy the pics and videos and share them with others! Don't forget about Trip Advisor and if you would like to share some thoughts with others about your day and maybe help them out in their decision as to make this an adventure on their Florida vacation, please just click on the link on the right side of this blog for "Trip Advisor - Everglades Adventure".

Gator D is tired and gonna get ready for a good nights rest before starting out on his next adventure!

South Seas Island ADVENTURE!

I am a guide in the Everglades and on a regular basis I pick people up from their hotels or meet them at central locations for a South Florida Adventure! Today was a first for me, especially considering it was an express tour, meaning a half day adventure, not a full day trip. So, at 7:00am, I headed to North Captiva Island, one hour away from Ft. Myers Beach to pick up a group of folks from South Seas Island Resort (formerly known as South Seas Plantation). I have not been to this area for quite some time. Sonja and I have ridden our motorcycle up that way occasionally but most of the time we did not make it beyond the Green Flash. It was a very nice ride on a beautiful day and once at the resort I waited for my party to arrive at the lobby area. This was a wonderful group of folks, here to celebrate a wedding, and I must say quite delightful to spend time with.It took us 2 hours from South Seas to get to the airboat ride, and after spending about an hour and a half in the Everglades enjoying the great weather, boat ride and playing with Buster (alligator), we headed back to Captiva. After another 2 hour ride I delivered these folks to their home away from home so they could enjoy what was left of the day.Another hour of driving got me back home in time to chill a little bit before I headed to the boat for an evening cruise to see the sun set over the Sanibel causeway. While sitting out there at the tip end of Estero Island gazing over the horizon I wondered if the folks over there were watching the sunset as we were. I went over that bridge 4 times for this adventure! Thanks folks for joining me and thanks for your generosity! Hope you enjoy the photos and share them with your friends and families!
There you have it! Looks like fun, huh? And MARY, I hope I was not to far off base with all that "scientific" stuff! For you newlyweds, remember the two words? "YES DEAR"! Ha!That's enough for me! Im outta here seeking another South Florida Adventure for today!
