December 29, 2012 "Paddle Board Fun!"

Hello all and welcome to Winter! It sure rolled in here on Ft. Myers Beach through the night! We woke up to 45 degrees this morning and I was NOT prepared for what awaited me when I walked outside barefooted to get the news paper! Geeze! GO HOME COLD WEATHER YOU ARE NOT WELCOME!

With that said, yesterday was not too bad! In the mid-seventies but very overcast and threats of rain throughout the day. However, I had the good fortune to get in a Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) trip with a great group of folks!

I am here to tell you this family was great on the boards! For "first timers" they really did marvelous. Ann and her crew took very little instruction, jumped right up on the boards and took off! They even took on the more challenging waves of the gulf after we arrived at our shell island! What troopers they were! I was IMPRESSED!

Ann, Thank you all for making this a great trip! I hope you had fun and I hope to see you again in the future. Enjoy the pictures and little video and share them with others too!

After my SUP trip I met my friend Don at Nervous Nellie's for a bite of lunch! I had the Rolled Oyster Poorboy. WOW! Incredible! Don't order this if you are not hungry! Outside on Uglys deck, the upstairs bar at Nervous Nellie's,  is the greatest seat in the house to listen to the live music out on the patio. Dave Collaton  was entertaining with his great beach style and we had a great time.

On to the Sunset Cruise later in the day with a boat load of more fun folks and then my day was over. I crashed! Good Times, Good People! Lucky Dog I am!

I'm headed out to enjoy my day off with my wife so Happy New Year all!

It's WINTER in South West Florida, and we felt that cold chill this morning as we began to prepare for a day on the water on Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUP) and Kayaks!

It was 48 degrees on the beach when I first woke up but it quickly warmed as the sun came up and the breeze went away. Before the day was out we were nice and warm.

I had four folks join me for SUP and two for Kayak. We put in on a little cozy splash area between Estero Bay and the Gulf of Mexico where the wind was minimum but the water was cold. We spent just over 2 hours exploring the brackish water wildlife habitat and the shell covered beach area on the little secluded island just south of Ft. Myers Beach.

The birds were out in numbers enjoying the sunshine and we were able to stay away from the heavy winds that eventually created some turmoil on the water.

All in all our day was good, filled with fun and some adventure here and there, yet offering a wonderfully peaceful journey.

Thank you all who participated in this event! I appreciated having you with me. Enjoy the pics and the short little video and share them with your friends and family!

Gator D is headed out for another adventure on the water so I must say SEE YOU LATER ALLIGATORS!

Hello all and welcome to another sunshiny day here in south Florida!

Yesterday, Cristina, Marlowe, Anne and I from Good Time Charters/Everglades Adventures traveled to the Everglades to enjoy a "field trip/training day", another excuse to spend time in the glades!

The pics are not that great but show how we spent our day out in the wilds of the glades and enjoyed the chilly but somewhat wonderful experience together!

The "wet walk" took us into waist deep water of the cypress domes where we say tons of birds, orchids, water plants and cypress trees. What a wonderful place to go and if you ever get a chance to do one of these walks DO IT!

Enjoy the pics and have a wonderful day!

Gator D is hanging Christmas Lights!
